Recreativo Want Ike Uche Back

Spanish second division side, Recreativo de Huelva, are eyeing the return of Super Eagles striker Ikechukwu Uche to boost their attack despite the fact that they failed in their previous bids for the Nigerian.

Ike Uche featured for the modest side between 2003-2007 before he switched to Getafe. He played a total of 133 games for the club and hit the back of the net 50 times.

However, following  the team’s inability to click upfront in the few games they have played so far in the new season, coach  Barjuan Sergi  is relishing the prospect of luring the Eagles star who is presently playing  for Villarreal who were also relegated to the second division last season to their fold.

Though the coach has absolved their current striker Berrocal of any blame for the lack of fire-power in the team’s attacking line, he was of the view that Berrocal needs a good partner in the mould of Ike to thrive.

"He (Berrocal)  needs another partner. We need another striker to help us, not because Berrocal  failed to deliver the much needed goals."

And following  the arrival of more strikers at Villarreal, especially Pandiani who are desperate to play in the elite division next season, Recreativo believes Villareal may be interested in doing business with it. The only snag however is that they cannot afford an outright acquisition of the forward who played for Granada on loan last season, while they will still be expecting him to lower his weekly wages.
