1509:

At White Hart Lane, Gareth Bale puts in a dangerous cross as Tottenham make a bright start. Interestingly, the weather looks fine and dry for Spurs, but just a few miles away the rain is sheeting down at Wembley in the Challenge Cup final.

1507:

Manchester United have rallied after that early Fulham goal, with Antonio Valencia whipping in a fine cross from the right but there is no forward there to tap it in.

1505:
GOAL - Aston Villa 0-1 Everton - Steven Pienaar (3 mins)
Pick this one out! What a goal.

Everton pop the ball out about nicely, Steven Naismith receives it with his back to goal and lays it off first time to Steven Pienaar 25 yards from goal, and the South African cracks a shot into the top corner. Sensational.

1504:

BBC Sport reporter Richard Askam at Old Trafford: "It is not the team we might have expected but Fulham have the lead. Poor defending from Manchester United as Damien Duff just steered the ball beyond De Gea."

1502:
GOAL - Manchester United 0-1 Fulham - Damien Duff (3 mins)
What a start! Fulham lead in the opening moments. Bryan Ruiz rolls a free-kick square from the left-hand side of the box and Damien Duff is free inside the area to roll his shot into the bottom corner. Extraordinary.

1501:
 KICK-OFF
All five Premier League games are under way...

1500:
 FOOTBALL LEAGUE LATEST
Bristol City move to the top of the Championship with a 4-2 victory against Cardiff City. The home side led 2-0 at the break and then 3-1. A Heidar Helguson strike in the 82nd minute for Cardiff ensured a thrilling final few moments, before debutant Sam Baldock settled the matter with a late effort for the Ashton Gate club.

1459:

Teams up and down the country are shaking hands out on the pitch. It's almost kick-off time.

1456:

The South Africa cricket team did not see any action in their called off one-day international against England on Friday, but they have turned up at St Mary's to catch Rickie Lambert and company against Wigan Athletic. I reckon giant fast bowler Morne Morkel would be a pretty handy centre-forward if you could whip a few crosses onto his head.

1455:

"Fergie, sign him up" is the chant reverberating around Old Trafford as Usain Bolt makes his way off the pitch.

1455:
Tottenham v West Brom (15:00 BST)
It is a bit of an old mate's love-in ahead of the game at White Hart Lane today, with former Chelsea colleagues Steve Clarke and Andre Villas-Boas keen to wax lyrical about the other. "I know Andre well," said Clarke. "He's a good guy who worked really well with Jose [Mourinho] at Chelsea. I'm sure he'll be successful in the Premier League - hopefully not too successful this weekend - but after that, he knows he's got my best wishes."

Villas-Boas continued in the same vein: "Steve has taken his steps very wisely and I'm happy he has achieved his ambition of becoming a manager. I respect him a lot because he took those steps very sensibly. It's an excellent opportunity for him so I am very happy for him."

Kwamena Bello on Twitter: "Swansea passed West Ham off the park...great penetration too. What a start to a season!"

Dhan Palihawadana on Twitter: "L‏ooks like Brendan Rodgers and co have left a decent legacy behind at Swansea. Give him time."

Dave Nicholas on Twitter: "I can't see Swansea maintaining this form throughout the season, Michu looks class but I think losing Sinclair will hurt them."

Steve Claridge on Final Score
Speaking about whether Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie can play in the same team together: "There is no doubt they can play together. Wayne Rooney used to play with Michael Owen and you can see a similar situation with Robin van Persie playing up front and Rooney in the hole. He has the peripheral vision to cause problems from there."

1453:

At Old Trafford and a special guest star makes an appearance - the world's fastest man no less.

Nope, not Laurent Blanc - it's Usain Bolt, with gold medals and all. To a big cheer the Jamaican tells the crowd "You guys need to tell Sir Alex to sign me up."

1452:

Andre Villas-Boas leads out the introductions at White Hart Lane, as new staff and players alike get the chance to have a wave to the fans. Emmanuel Adebayor - who scored 17 goals for Spurs last season - looks bemused.

Steve in Salisbury on text: "I think Swansea have been listening to Sir Alex Ferguson... With a goal difference of +8 already they are trying to make sure they won't miss out on the title due to goal difference!"

Shaun, a very very disgruntled United supporter, on text: "Shocking decision to drop Rooney. Our best player for many seasons now. Absolutely scandalous."

 LINE-UPS - Southampton v Wigan (15:00 BST)
Southampton: Kelvin Davis, Clyne, Fonte, Hooiveld, Fox, Steven Davis, Schneiderlin, Lallana, Do Prado, Rodriguez, Lambert. Subs: Gazzaniga, Sharp, Ward-Prowse, Richardson, Shaw, Seaborne, Puncheon.

Wigan: Al Habsi, Alcaraz, Caldwell, Kone, Boyce, McCarthy, McArthur, Figueroa, Ramis, Di Santo, Maloney. Subs: Pollitt, Jones, Crusat, Watson, Gomez, Boselli, Beausejour.

Referee: Anthony Taylor (Cheshire)

1446:

Swansea's goalscoring full-back Angel Rangel after his side's 3-0 victory against West Ham: "The gaffer has put his own work in, and ever player is very pleased with the way things are going. We are delighted with the momentum but it is just two games.

"Our aim is to maintain out status and our philosophy of keeping the ball. We will not put any targets up, but whatever comes it will be very good."

1445:
Tottenham v West Brom (15:00 BST)
With football fate being as it is it would come as no surprise if West Brom's on-loan Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku scores at White Hart Lane today. Andre Villas-Boas, who was in charge at Stamford Bridge for the start of Lukaku's debut Blues season but rarely selected the 19-year-old, is certainly wary. "I think he is ready for the Premier League," said Villas-Boas. "He is obviously a player with tremendous talent that competed last year against two of the world's best players at Chelsea. Lukaku had frustrations last year that you can understand. It's up to him to compete but when you compete against Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba the job is difficult."

1444:
Manchester United v Fulham (15:00 BST)
The headlines will all be about Wayne Rooney's omission, but in reality the entire forward line who played for Manchester United in their defeat at Everton have been left on the bench. Rooney and Danny Welbeck make way for Ashley Young and the full debut of £24m frontman Robin van Persie. Sir Alex Ferguson also relegates Paul Scholes to the bench with Anderson replacing him, while Nani, who started at Goodison Park, is not even in the 18.

For visitors Fulham, who thrashed Norwich 5-0 on the opening day of the season, there is just the one change - Matthew Briggs comes in at left-back for John Arne Riise.

1444:

Referee Neil Swarbrick, speaking to Final Score about the decision to call off the game between Sunderland and Reading at the Stadium of Light: "It is because of a waterlogged pitch. There was standing water on the pitch when we arrived. We looked at the forecast for the rest of the day and the rain is only going to get worse. I spoke with both managers and they were in full agreement that it was not playable."

1440:

Reading manager Brian McDermott, speaking to Final Score about the postponement of the Royals' game at Sunderland due to a waterlogged pitch: "There is no way a game could be played today. It is highly unusual a game is called off in August, but it is what it is and we look forward now to Tuesday."

1440:
Aston Villa v Everton (15:00 BST)
Aston Villa have scored two goals in the last seven Premier League games and Paul Lambert says his side need to do more to support striker Darren Bent. "I can understand the frustration because I was frustrated myself," said Lambert after the England international barely had a touch in last Saturday's 1-0 defeat at West Ham.

Staying on the theme of strikers, Everton manager David Moyes has told fans not to expect too much too soon from Kevin Mirallas. "We've got to let him settle in, but we are really pleased to have him," he said.

1439:

Another day, another thumping win for Swansea. What a start to the season.

1439:
 SPL LATEST
Celtic go top of the table with a 4-2 win at Inverness. Tony Watt scored twice for the visitors, with Victor Wanyama and Charlie Mulgrew grabbing the other goals. Dundee United can overtake Neil Lennon's team with a draw or better against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, while Hibs host St Johnstone and Dundee take on unbeaten Ross County.

Keep across the action in our SPL live text.

A few Reading and Sunderland players have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on the postponement of the game between the two sides at the Stadium of Light.

Reading striker Noel Hunt on Twitter: "When was the last game called off in August for a water logged pitch!!? Must be a first!!"

Sunderland striker Louis Saha on Twitter: "Gutted. Have to go home without a game. See you Tuesday then."

1437:
 FULL-TIME- Swansea 3-0 West Ham
BBC MOTD's Dan O'Hagan at Liberty Stadium: "What a day for Michael Laudrup's Swansea. A 3-0 win on the back of last week's success. Two games played, two wins, good wins, big wins. What a day to be a Swan. West Ham were undone by basic first-half errors."

1435:
 LINE-UPS- Aston Villa v Everton (15:00 BST)
Aston Villa: Given, Lowton, Vlaar, Baker, Clark, N'Zogbia, Herd, El Ahmadi, Bannan, Delfouneso, Bent. Subs: Guzan, Ireland, Holman, Delph, Weimann, Lichaj, Burke.

Final Score is about to start at the top of your screens - Steve Claridge and Garth Crooks are your men to guide you through the afternoon.

1432:

Sam Allardyce is slumped in his chair - the West Ham manager is almost horizontal as he watches Swansea pass him off the park. Plenty of thinking for Big Sam to do.

1429:

Ross Draper is at it again. Forcing the ball over the line after Fraser Forster had saved his close-range volley from a Connor Pepper delivery. It's now Inverness 2-4 Celtic.

1429:
Tottenham v West Brom (15:00 BST)
Defender Jan Vertonghen makes his Tottenham debut, in place of the injured Younes Kaboul. The only other change sees midfielder Rafael van der Vaart start in place of Gylfi Sigurdsson. Emmanuel Adebayor, who finally joined Spurs permanently from Manchester City this week, is on the bench.

Marc-Antoine Fortune starts up front for WBA in place of Peter Odemwingie, who is not in included in the squad. Graham Dorrans starts as his daughter continues to make steady progress in her recovery from meningitis in hospital. He replaces Zoltan Gera. On loan forward Romelu Lukaku, who (barely) played under Andre Villas-Boas at Chelsea, is on the bench.

1428:

Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas is watching Swansea against West Ham and the Barcelona midfielder is clearly a fan of the way the Welsh side play.

The Spain international wrote on Twitter: "Como juega el Swansea... Madre mia. Com juga el Swansea... Mare meva. I love the way Swansea plays...Respect."

1428:
 LINE-UPS- Manchester United v Fulham (15:00 BST)
Man Utd: De Gea, Da Silva, Carrick, Vidic, Evra, Cleverley, Anderson, Valencia, Kagawa, Young, van Persie. Subs: Lindegaard, Evans, Rooney, Giggs, Hernandez, Welbeck, Scholes.

Fulham: Schwarzer, Riether, Hughes, Hangeland, Briggs, Duff, Diarra, Dembele, Kacaniklic, Ruiz, Petric. Subs: Stockdale, Kelly, Baird, Sidwell, Kasami, Rodallega, Halliche.

Referee: Kevin Friend (Leicestershire)

Inverness pull one back as Ross Draper does well to race in behind the Celtic defence and slide a shot beyond keeper Fraser Forester. Neil Lennon's side lead 4-1 in the Highlands.

1427:

Plenty of crazy goings on around the country this afternoon - the kick-off time for the Conference fixture between Hereford and Ebbsfleet has been put back to 16:30 BST as a result of Ebbsfleet's coach breaking down en route to Edgar Street.

If it's not heavy rain it's transport trouble.

David Pleat on BBC Radio 5 live
Speaking about Sir Alex Ferguson's decision to hand Robin van Persie a start for Manchester United against Fulham: "It is a fascinating one. I think he is giving Van Persie a start in view of the fact he played regular as a lone striker for Arsenal. He has probably given him the opportunity to see how that works in this first home game of the season."

1423:

Swansea are still cruising to victory against West Ham, who have been well off the pace today. I think a few sides will get this treatment in south Wales this season though.

1421:
 LINE-UPS- Norwich v QPR (15:00 BST)
Norwich: Ruddy, Russell Martin, Bassong, Barnett, Garrido, Snodgrass, Howson, Johnson, Pilkington, Jackson, Holt. Subs: Rudd, Surman, Hoolahan, Morison, Tierney, Ryan Bennett, Chris Martin.

QPR: Green, Traore, Hill, Ferdinand, Da Silva, Mackie, Diakite, Park, Hoilett, Cisse, Zamora. Subs: Murphy, Derry, Johnson, Taarabt, Wright-Phillips, Onuoha, Bosingwa.

1420:
 Southampton v Wigan (15:00 BST)
Southampton manager - and Wigan old boy - Nigel Adkins makes two changes from the side that lost 3-2 to Premier League champions Manchester City, with goalscorers Steven Davis and Rickie Lambert drafted in.

Summer signing Arouna Kone replaces Chelsea new boy Victor Moses in the only change to the Wigan team that lost 2-0 to Champions League holders Chelsea in the opening weekend of the season.

1419:
 LINE-UPS- Tottenham v West Brom (15:00 BST)
Tottenham: Friedel, Walker, Gallas, Vertonghen, Assou-Ekotto, Livermore, Sandro, Lennon, Van der Vaart, Bale, Defoe. Subs: Cudicini, Naughton, Jenas, Sigurdsson, Adebayor, Townsend, Caulker.

West Brom: Foster, Reid, McAuley, Olsson, Ridgewell, Mulumbu, Yacob, Dorrans, Morrison, Fortune, Long. Subs: Myhill, Rosenberg, Brunt, Lukaku, Gera, Dawson, Jones.

1418:
Aston Villa v Everton (15:00 BST)
Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert reacts to his team's opening day 1-0 defeat at West Ham by dropping Fabian Delph, Stephen Ireland and Brett Holman to the substitutes bench. Chris Herd, Barry Bannan and Nathan Delfouneso start.

New signing Kevin Mirallas fails to make Everton's starting line-up. But manager David Moyes does make one change to the side that defeated Manchester United 1-0, Steven Naismith starting in place of Tony Hibbert.

MOTD presenter Gary Lineker on Twitter: "Sunderland v Reading postponed. How exasperating for the fans, especially those who have travelled up from Reading...is it really that bad in Sunderland that they can't give it a couple of hours to see if the rain relents?"

1414:

There are about 25 minutes left in Swansea, where Michael Laudrup's side are coasting to victory. Laudrup's men have scored eight goals already this season - it's easy this Premier League lark isn't it?

1412:
 Norwich v QPR (15:00 BST)
Norwich make four changes from the side that were thrashed 5-0 by Fulham last week, with Javier Garrido and Sebastien Bassong set for their debuts.

GOAL- Swansea 3-0 West Ham - Danny Graham (64 mins)
What a lovely goal this is. The Swans cut West Ham to ribbons with a passing move, Wayne Routledge gets to the dead-ball line and stands up a cross to the back stick, where Danny Graham is on hand to sweep into the corner. Swansea are going to the top of the pile.

1407:

Wayne Rooney is left out of the Manchester United side as Robin van Persie makes his full debut.

1405:

For those of you getting in touch about the decision to call the game off in Sunderland - we've had an official statement from the club.

They say: "Torrential rain across Wearside overnight and throughout Saturday in the build up to the game led to an inspection from Match Officials.

Despite attempts from club staff and the officials to get the game to go ahead, the postponement was announced by referee Neil Swarbrick after thorough checks on the Stadium of Light pitch."

I suppose the only saving grace for Reading's players is that they were facing their third game of a testing week in the top-flight today. At least their legs will get a rest. No consolation for the fans though.

1400:

Swansea have started the second half brightly, and Danny Graham calls Jussi Jaaskelainen into action with a curling effort from the edge of the box but this time the veteran is on the money, turning the ball away.

West Ham then have a glimpse at the other end, but Carlton Cole can't turn in a cross with an acrobatic effort.

BREAKING NEWS- SUNDERLAND v READING IS OFF
1340:
Tottenham v West Brom (15:00 BST)
MOTD's Martin Fisher at White Hart Lane: "These two clubs suffered contrasting emotions on opening day. Andre Villas-Boas lost his first game in charge of Tottenham, while Steve Clarke's West Brom enjoyed a superb 3-0 win over Liverpool. Defeat to West Brom last season was the final nail in the coffin of Andre Villas-Boas's spell at Chelsea. While another beating by the Baggies would not result in a P45 for Villas-Boas, alarm bells would start to ring for some Spurs fans."

1339:

MOTD's John Motson at St Mary's
Southampton v Wigan (15:00 BST)
"This will be the first ever league meeting between Southampton and Wigan and both clubs will want to get points on the board as quickly as possible.

"Southampton produced a display few would have predicted against Manchester City last weekend and almost created a major upset.

"Wigan boss Robert Martinez will be looking for a far more consistent effort from his team this season. It would take a psychiatrist to explain what was going on at the DW Stadium during 2011/12."

1339:
 Norwich v QPR (15:00 BST)
MOTD's Laurence Herdman at Carrow Road: "Subscribers to the theory of 'Second Season Syndrome' will have guffawed in the aftermath of the 5-0 thrashings handed out to Norwich and QPR last weekend. Both managers were left red-faced at the hands of Fulham and Swansea and neither pulled punches in their post-match assessments. It's now about positive reactions to opening day disappointment. Don't expect a rugby score in Norfolk, but it's set to be an absorbing contest."

1338:

Manchester United v Fulham (15:00 BST)
Alistair Magowan reports from Old Trafford: "Twelve months ago, Robin van Persie was on the end of a 8-2 defeat for Arsenal as Manchester United crushed the Gunners' early season hopes, now the Dutchman can write a new chapter at the Theatre of Dreams if he makes his full debut for the Red Devils. His new employers are without four injured centre-backs but Fulham will still expect a tougher test than against Norwich last weekend, with Croatian striker Mladen Petric aiming to make Clint Dempsey's absence a mere fly in the ointment."

1336:
Aston Villa v Everton (15:00 BST)
MOTD's Alistair Mann at Villa Park: "Despite Paul Lambert's phenomenal success with Norwich City, few Aston Villa fans will be expecting a top six finish in the first year of his tenure. That his first home test will be against Everton does seem untimely following the events at Goodison Park on Monday night but with the visitors' confidence soaring and Lambert's determination to quickly win over his new followers, everything does seem set for an enthralling contest."

 HALF-TIME- Swansea 2-0 West Ham
MOTD's Dan O'Hagan: "A perfect Swansea first-half but West Ham know the two goals were really avoidable - defensive mistakes by their goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen and then a wretched James Collins backpass."

1331:

As poor as they may have been, West Ham are a threat from corners. Carlton Cole is the latest to win a header which is on its way into the corner until a Swansea knee clears the ball. Almost a way back.

1328:

West Ham fans may be hoping that weather can make its way down in time to get this one called off - the Hammers have been poor in this half. George McCartney is the latest to aim a ball in the vague direction of Carlton Cole to no avail.

1324:
 YELLOW CARD- Carlton Cole
Carlton Cole is involved in an aerial tussle with Chico and the West Ham man is shown a yellow card.

1322:
 Sunderland v Reading (15:00 BST)
It may be a fine afternoon in Swansea - but all is not well up in Sunderland. The rain is so fierce that there is talk that we may need a pitch inspection!

I'll get that clarified as soon as we can but if you're a Reading fan on the A1, brace yourself.

Peter Clark on Twitter: "A series of gaffes today at the Liberty. The worst probably being Big Sam wearing a claret and blue tie with a black shirt."

1321:

That goal from Michu means that he is the fastest Spaniard to ever reach three goals in the Premier League era. The previous fastest was Fernando Torres who needed four Prem matches for Liverpool to reach three goals.

1320:

Matt Jarvis is close to a goal on his debut - again it's from a long free-kick pumped forwards, Jarvis swivels on the loose ball and catches a half-volley beautifully but Michel Vorm parries it away brilliantly.

Fine save.

1316:

Kamikaze stuff from West Ham. For all of Swansea's good play both goals have been avoidable. Three goals in two games now for Michu though - top signing by the looks of it.

1313:
GOAL- Swansea 2-0 West Ham - Michu (29 mins)
Disaster at the back again for West Ham! James Collins has a nightmare this time, fluffing a backpass under no pressure at all, Michu is sharp to read the danger and toe-poke the ball into the corner. Not the start Sam Allardyce had planned.

John Baxter on Twitter: "Angel Rangel from a tight angle."

1312:

West Ham's main threat is definitely from set-pieces. They win another free-kick out on the left which is well delivered, James Collins wins the header at the far post but Swansea stand firm and are able to get it away.

1308:

West Ham just have not got to grips with Angel Rangel down that right-hand side and it has cost them. The Hammers do force a moment of panic from a long-range free-kick but the hosts clear it away.

1305:
GOAL- Swansea 1-0 West Ham - Angel Rangel (20 mins)
He's been the main man all day - and Angel Rangel puts Swansea ahead. But it's not a moment to remember for West Ham goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen. Rangel is played into the box by Jonathan de Guzman and drives the ball across the box. I'm not sure it is actually on target though until Jaaskelainen helps it in.

1304:

A few of you have text in to comment on this Swansea kit - it's super sharp isn't it? A bit Real Madrid - but very nice indeed.

They are fully into their rhythm now.

1302:

Again Angel Rangel is causing havoc. He drives down the right, and when the ball comes back to Wayne Routledge he crosses in for Danny Graham - who can't quite get his head on the ball. West Ham are hanging on a bit here.

1300:

Another nice move from Swansea, they again get Angel Rangel involved on the overlap but his low cross is well cleared by Winston Reid. The home side are starting to build the pressure.

1258:

Don't get Big Sam started on direct football Tyron...

I think West Ham have started well actually. They are looking to get new boy Matt Jarvis on the ball as much as they can. Get him paying off that hefty fee.

Tyron Clarke on Twitter: "The only way West Ham could be any more direct is by shooting directly at goal as soon they win the ball #hoofball."

1254:

This is a very decent opening in Swansea. Both sides attacking at pace, with the hosts switching the ball out to Angel Rangel on the right and the full-back winning a corner.

One of the best names in football that.

1254:
 SPL LATEST
We have action north of the border this afternoon as well.

Celtic, making six changes from the side that started the 2-0 win in Helsingborgs on Wednesday, are ahead after three minutes in Inverness. It could not have been simpler; Victor Wanyama nodding in direct from a corner.

You can follow all the action in a designated Scottish live text commentary.

Tom in Maidstone on text: "Never mind the Premier League, the FA Cup starts today - the Preliminary round. Come on the Stones (Maidstone), who are playing Colliers Wood in the first FA cup tie to be played back in Maidstone since 1987! The Stones have recently moved back home!"

1251:

After a shaky start Swansea are now looking to settle into their passing rhythm, with Leon Britton getting on the ball as much as possible. Michu is operating in the hole behind Danny Graham.

1249:

Speaking of Matt Jarvis, his former manager at Wolves Stale Solbakken has just told Football Focus about how his 2001 heart attack compares with Fabrice Muamba's recent illness.

"I was dead for seven minutes and had 30 hours in a coma," he said.

"It was down to a heart defect I was born with. It didn't trouble me before that and it hasn't bothered me afterwards. But I was lucky the doctor was on the training ground that day."

That puts a penalty shoot-out against Aldershot into context.

Jack Poulter on Twitter: "Scott Sinclair is making a mistake if he goes Man City, less than 10 starts and becomes a forgotten man, I'd like him at Liverpool though."

Jamie Matthews on Twitter: "Adam Johnson seemed to score every time he played! Sunderland a good move for him, can get games and show us what he can do."

1248:

And here's our first glimpse of Matt Jarvis in a West Ham shirt - he toasts his full-back easily and puts in a very good cross which Kevin Nolan doesn't get on the end of. Good start for Jarvis, good start for the Hammers.

1246:

West Ham win a throw in the opening seconds and they take the chance to put a long one into the mixer. James Tomkins is forward and wins a decent flick-on at the near post but there's nobody able to gather it.

1245:

QPR head to Norwich this afternoon looking to pick up their first win of the season, although chairman Tony Fernandes is facing a race against time to be there for kick off.

The Malaysian has tweeted: "North circular closed. Any advice how to get up to Norwich?"

Get a plane Tone.

 KICK-OFF- Swansea v West Ham (12:45 BST)
Game on at the Liberty.

1243:

The teams are out on the pitch - Matt Jarvis wearing the number seven shirt for his new club West Ham - and we are moments away from kick-off.

1240:

Ki Sung-Yeung is now being paraded on the pitch to the home fans, who seem very pleased to have him on board. As a replacement for Joe Allen he has big shoes to fill.

1239:

Back in south Wales, Swansea new boy Ki Sung-Yeung is surveying his new home from the dugout at the minute.

The South Korean midfielder is not involved today after completing his move from Celtic too late, but expect to see him in action very soon.

1237:

MOTD's Guy Mowbray at Old Trafford:
"Sir Alex Ferguson hinted yesterday that Robin van Persie might start. He's sold us a few fibs in the past, but I am sure that Van Persie will start and I think Wayne Rooney might line-up behind him.

"I'd expect United to go for goals whenever they can this season after missing out on the title on goal difference to Manchester City last season."

1236:

Sir Alex's comments about Robin van Persie have stoked a few of you up - but will he play up front alongside Wayne Rooney today?

1233:

Swansea's new boss Michael Laudrup on Football Focus, after winning his first game in charge 5-0 at QPR: "Last year Swansea were the new boy in the class, but now we're not the newcomer. We have to have a Plan B, and that's my challenge as the new manager. This is a great experience and opportunity for me. I'm from small Denmark, and now I'm the first Dane to manage in the Premier League."

1233:

A big day for Matt Jarvis then - and the new West Ham winger scored twice at the Liberty Stadium last season in Wolves' 4-4 draw with Swansea.

Hammers fans will be hoping for a repeat.

1230:

Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard is still buzzing after his side's Monday night win over Manchester United, if his Football Focus interview is anything to go by: "It was special. The fans were right up for it, they got behind us and it ended up being a fantastic night. We deserved a win and we probably could have won by more.

"Marouane Fellaini is fantastic. When he is further up the pitch he is a real threat."

Andy in Manchester on text: "As a City fan when Adam Johnson played most defenders read him like a book! A left-footed player on the right doesn't work! A one trick pony! Good luck to the lad but I'm happy to have Sinclair and I've heard maybe even Javi Martinez soon as well!"

Rob on text: "Too many clubs paying over the odds for average British players rather than developing their own talent. Wolves received £25m in a day for two players that were relegated last season. Unbelievable."

1227:

Just 20 minutes until the day's action gets under way then at a very pleasant looking Liberty Stadium. The awful weather which had been predicted across Bank Holiday weekend seems to be steering clear of Swansea. At the moment anyway...

1224:
 LINE-UPS- Swansea v West Ham (12:45 BST)

Ronnie Bowerman on Twitter: "I don't know where Scott Sinclair hopes to fit into the City team."

Rudi Hayward on Twitter: "I'm sure city fans are happy with Sinclair. They needed another bench warmer."

Darren Johns on Twitter: "I reckon Scott Sinclair will get less than 15 starts this season at Man City if he joins. Wasted talent."

1222:

It wouldn't be summer any more without a transfer struggle or two across Manchester as Unietd and City fight over the best players around.

This year of course, Sir Alex Ferguson came out on top by bagging Robin van Persie from Arsenal, and the United chief has had a sly dig at his rivals in today's programme.

"A lot of players would like to play for Manchester United - as the agents keep telling us - but over the last two or three years I think there has been a trend for players to settle for the cash, and as we all know, Manchester City can beat us all at that," Ferguson told United Review.

"So I found it very heartening when Robin's motivation was to chase his ambitions to play for us and hopefully win a trophy or two."

Ouch.

Stephan from Manchester on text: "I don't think Sinclair is a better player, but Johnson always had an attitude problem and ultimately the team is more important."

Mike Davies in Newport on text: "Would love to see Usain Bolt in action for United. Give him a one-month contract Fergie!"

1216:

Football Focus is just about to start - it should appear at the top of your screen momentarily...

1215:

Scott Sinclair came off the bench to score for Swansea last weekend, and it is looking increasingly likely that that was his final goal for the club.

Michael Laudrup has just six days to bring in a replacement - and one of those is a Bank Holiday. This transfer window malarkey does not do managers any favours does it?

OptaJoe on Twitter: "West Ham have kept just one clean sheet in their last 27 Premier League away games."

1210:

Selling Adam Johnson and signing Scott Sinclair. City fans out there - you happy with that?

1210:
Swansea v West Ham (12:45 BST)
Swansea are unchanged following their impressive 5-0 win over QPR on the opening day but there is no place in the squad for Scott Sinclair, with the Swans believed to have accepted a bid from Manchester City for the former Chelsea player.

West Ham hand a debut to new signing Matt Jarvis following his move from Wolves. Jarvis is one of two changes to the team that beat Aston Villa, with Matt Taylor dropping to the bench and James Tomkins replacing Ricardo Vaz Te.

Sir Alex Ferguson will be hoping to get Manchester United's season up and running this afternoon when they host Fulham, and if he needs some pace up top he can look to the stands as Usain Bolt will be guest of honour at Old Trafford today.

Bolt has said he wants to play for the club one day. Dream on Usain. Dream on...

Swansea v West Ham (12:45 BST)
After an impressive 5-0 win at QPR in his first game in charge, Michael Laudrup has challenged his Swansea side to continue in the same vein at home to West Ham. "They [West Ham] had a good win last weekend," said Laudrup. "But we will be looking to pick up from where we left off against QPR." The Hammers were also victorious on the opening weekend which pleased boss Sam Allardyce: "We didn't quite hit the heights Michael did, but we had a 1-0 win against Aston Villa, which was a fantastic result for us."

1200:

Dan O'Hagan, Match of the Day commentator at Liberty Stadium
Swansea v West Ham (12:45 BST)
"Given Swansea's blistering start at Loftus Road, I'm sure the Hammers would happily take a single point back along the M4 with them. The win against Aston Villa continues last year's momentum for West Ham, and perhaps lifts the pressure for the trip to the Liberty Stadium. The Swans will fancy themselves in Michael Laudrup's first competitive home match following last weekend's bolt-from-the-blue thumping of QPR."

1158:
BREAKING TEAM NEWS- Swansea v West Ham (12:45 BST)
Perhaps unsurprisingly after that 5-0 hammering of QPR, Swansea are unchanged this afternoon. New record signing Ki Sung-Yeung was not signed in time to feature.

Matt Jarvis starts for West Ham.

1155:

West Ham have added to their squad this week of course in the form of winger Matt Jarvis from Wolves.

A decent top-flight player, for sure - but are there question marks over the £10.75m fee? It seems mega money to me.

Arsenal paid about that for Lukas Podolski. A man who is only a year older. And has scored 44 goals for Germany.

So what do we reckon today?

Can Michael Laudrup mastermind another win for the Swans? Will Big Sam make it two from two? Can Manchester United find a defence? Will Norwich and QPR both ship five again in the game of the century at Carrow Road?

1147:

We kick-off the day in Swansea, and will end it in west London, via the likes of Norwich, Southampton and Aston Villa.

Here's the full schedule of play in the Premier League:

Swansea v West Ham (12:45 BST)

Aston Villa v Everton (15:00 BST)

Man Utd v Fulham (15:00 BST)

Norwich v QPR (15:00 BST)

Southampton v Wigan (15:00 BST)

Sunderland v Reading (15:00 BST)

Tottenham v West Brom (15:00 BST)

Chelsea v Newcastle (17:30 BST)

1144:

A 5-0 win at Loftus Road was some introduction to the Premier League from Michael Laudrup, but he may find out very, very soon that it is not always that easy.

Sam Allardyce's West Ham side will not make life straightforward this afternoon as they look for a second-straight win back in the big time.

1140:

Premier League. Week Two. Home debut time for Michael Laudrup.

After guiding Swansea to a superb 5-0 win away at QPR last weekend, Laudrup now has the chance to introduce himself to the Liberty Stadium faithful with a home game against West Ham.

Swans fans - would you settle for a 4-0 today?
